Job description:

As a mechanical engineer the main duties and responsibilities will be to contribute to the management and design of water and waste water schemes located both in the UK and overseas. This will include working in multi-disciplinary teams of civil, mechanical, process and electrical/C&I engineers. The candidate will be working in teams and therefore must be able to interact positively with senior and junior staff alike and within the client environment. The candidate will be required to take on aspects of project and programme management and be aware of and understand the commercial and financial consequences of their actions and the actions of others.

Candidates should have a good multidisciplinary knowledge of their field and be able to positively advise other disciplines regarding aspects of their design as it impacts mechanical engineering issues. Candidates will be expected to take on project management duties and be involved in the financial and commercial management and planning of projects. You will be expected to be progressive and imaginative in your work and strive to add value where possible for the benefit of the company and our clients.

Typical duties for mechanical; engineers would be preparation or supervision of preparation of drawings for plant general arrangements, carry out pump selection, hydraulic analysis, process plant engineering, preparation of P&IDs. To manage the production of technical and commercial specification documentation for tenders, prepare schedules of prices, engineer’s estimates and attend factory and site acceptance tests. The candidate will be required supervise were necessary to supervise the work of more junior engineers and provide technical and professional guidance to assist their development.

The Candidate should be prepared to spend period working away from base either in client offices, on project sites in the UK or overseas.

Candidate specification:

We invite applications from experienced mechanical engineers with more than four years' relevant experience preferably in the water or related process industry. Candidates should preferably be qualified to degree level and chartered or working towards chartered status.
